About Us

Creating Accessible Regional Architecture

Inspired by our regional lifestyle and environment, JBG Architects provides innovative and practical solutions for building design and budget challenges. With over 1000 projects completed since 1998, we have worked across the Barossa Valley, regional South Australia, metropolitan Adelaide, the south east states of Australia and China.

 

The success of JBG Architects lies in our philosophy to create architecture for clients seeking value-added design and professional integrity, regardless of size or budget. Our portfolio reflects the diversity of regions and our adaptable approach to providing architectural services to suit individual client needs.

 

The JBG team has worked with some of Australia’s most iconic brands including The Yalumba Wine Co, Shaw+Smith, Angove Family Winemakers, Pernod Ricard, Ahrens Group, Grant Burge Wines, Torbrek, Barons of Barossa, Beerenberg, Henschke and numerous regional councils.

Jamie Gladigau – B.Arch. Hons. AACA
Director

After graduating in 1993 from University of Adelaide, with Honours in the Bachelor of Architecture, Jamie worked with a large architectural firm in Sydney designing educational and institutional buildings. Since moving back to the Barossa Valley in 1998, Jamie with his wife Shannon, have worked together to successfully grow JBG Architects into a sought-after architectural practice that services clients across South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Asia. Jamie’s vision is for practical design solutions, combined with natural materials and environmental efficiencies for winery, commercial, community, heritage and residential clients.

Graham Baker – Dip. Bld. Tech
Residential Project Manager + Associate

Graham joined JBG Architects in 2006 from TAFE SA, where he studied his interest in residential building design. Now our Residential Specialist, he offers knowledge and guidance to our clients throughout the often difficult process of designing and approving their new house or additions. Graham has since completed further studies in building and construction at the University of South Australia to enhance his knowledge of the industry. He particularly enjoys working on unique and creative house design concepts that complement the functionality and tastes of their owners.

Tony Niutta
Tony Niutta – M.Arch.
Project Leader

Tony is a graduate of the University of South Australia with a Masters of Architecture, joining JBG Architects in 2016 having previously worked for Webber Architects in Newscastle, NSW. Tony was a member of the winning team for the 2015 SuperStudio competition, held by the Australian Institute of Architects’ Student Organised Network for Architects. An annual 24-hour design competition attracting 19 entries nationally, Tony and his team won a trip to attend the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale. Tony’s key interests are in parametric modelling and solving complex design solutions.

Lisa Koop – Dip. Bld. Tech
Senior Interior Designer

Lisa brings over 20 years of experience in the interior architecture field, with a diverse range of projects completed across Australia. She joined JBG Architects in 2018 and has played a key role in interior design projects, offering technical expertise and a keen eye for detail.

Highly involved in both the design and documentation processes, Lisa is quick to understand and interpret clients’ needs. She enjoys a collaborative approach to design, and her attention to detail ensures that no aspect of a project is overlooked or unconsidered.

Hugh Adare – M.Arch
Graduate of Architecture

Hugh graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Master of Architecture in 2021. He has previously worked at Grieve Gillett Andersen before joining JBG in early 2022. A local from the Barossa, Hugh has grown up around heritage and has a keen interest in heritage with a twist of the modern. Working at a garden centre throughout his study, Hugh has acquired a detailed knowledge of plants which he brings to JBG though landscape designs. He was awarded Best Visual Render, Best Poster Layout and Best Overall Project at the 2021 Final Year Exhibition at the University of Adelaide. 3D modelling and rendering are his passion with a portfolio of digital art and architectural visualizations.

Federico Arias Mina
Junior Architectural Technician

Originally from Colombia, Federico (or Fed) is currently completing his Bachelor of Architecture at Uni SA, aiming for architectural registration in Australia. This follows his Colombian qualifications and practical experience.

Dedicated to his profession, Fed is detail-oriented, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work, and the ability to translate conceptual ideas into comprehensive and detailed documentation.

Fed is also a familiar face in the Barossa hospitality scene, where he has gained valuable experience in management and client engagement. Having recently completed building a home in Tanunda with his wife, Fed is firmly establishing himself as a Barossa local.

Shannon Turner – B.A
Finance & Administration

Co-director of JBG Architects, Shannon completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Adelaide and assists JBG Architects part time with finance and administration.
